You know the phrase “failure isn’t an option?”
I don’t like it.
Today was my first day of doing P90X3 again. Something Tony Horton says over and over again is “Failure is an option.” All the workouts you want to do to failure–to work hard each minute of the workout. As I’m laying on the floor, asking myself why I decided to do this workout series again, I smile.
He’s right, you know.
When I look back over the 25 years of my life, there’s been a lot of failure and though some of those failures have been incredibly embarrassing, I’ve learned something–it’s that without failure, there is no success. Think about it, if you only ever succeeded in life, would you really be learning anything? Are you really successful?
Dare I say you wouldn’t?
If you don’t fail, you don’t learn and if you don’t learn, you don’t change.
Take for example, Domino’s Pizza.
I like what one of them says, “In order to get better and move ahead, you’re going to make mistakes.”
A man full of wisdom once said, “Do or do not, there is no try.”
If you fail, yet it propels you forward, have you really failed? I say no, no you haven’t failed. You’ve learned a way that thing didn’t work.
I challenge you to fail. Go after something you don’t think is possible. Take a risk and see what happens. You never know, you just might learn something.
